Peace Building Translator ~ IOM

IOM is looking for a Peace Building Translator according to the terms of reference below. Job Title : Peace Building Translator

Classification : Employee, Grade 5
Estimate Starting Date : Soon as possible
Duration of Contract : 3 months with possible extension

General Functions :
Under the direct supervision of the Reintegration Officer of the Post Conflict and Reintegration Program (PCRP) in close coordination with the Peace-building Consultant (for PCRP) and the Information Officer (at IOM Jakarta), and the overall guidance of the Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and Implementing public information, public relations, and peace-building media strategies in support of the PCRP.
In particular s/he will:
1. Assist with translations the PCRP peacebuilding consultant in brokering relationships and maintaining constant dialogues and programmatic focuses with Government institutions, NGO¢s, media houses and Arts/cultural circles;
2. Maintain constant communications with CV kosmopolit in Banda Aceh to maintain programmatic focus of the monthly tabloid Tingkap;
3. Maintain constant communications with Harian Aceh to direct the public opinion campaign via SMS;
4. Obtain community feedback on the monthly tabloid Tingkap and identify ways and means to link IOM¢s peace building activities and community media interventions,
5. Maintain constant contact with the media pivotal points in each ICRS functional districts;
6. Assist the PCRP peacebuilding consultant in video documenting the attitudinal and behavioral changes throughout the ICRS program of 10-15 exemplary ICRS clients;
7. Assist in the organization of a relevant befitting cultural celebration under the banner of the common identity, highlighting the achievements of the Aceh Peace Process to commemorate the third year of the signing of the Helsinki MOU and the National independence Day;
8. Maintain constant communication with Community Viewer Circles (CVC) in collaboration with Local Partners (LP¢s) and community based Self-Help Groups (SHG¢s);
9. Prepare regular implementation reports and project progress reporting as required.
10. Assist staff designated to PCRP information and media activities.
11. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:
-A minimum of three years relevant experience in translations, information and reporting capacities with an International or relevant national agency/organization or media outlet.
-Experience in writing and designing promotional/media materials, and working with community and commercial broadcast media (i.e. radio, television) is highly desirable though not mandatory.
-Previous work experience with Aceh and familiarity with peace-building and reintegration issues pertaining to the ongoing peace process a distinct advantage.
-Solid PR experience liaising with journalists, National media, desirable.
-Ability to prepare clear and concise reports required.
-Excellent communication and negotiation skills, strong organizational skills, drive for results and effective people skills with a demonstrated track record working effectively with colleagues from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds is the foundation for this position.
-Thorough knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia (Spoken/written) and English (Spoken) is mandatory.
