Description: WE ARE SEEKING A Project Manager for Mobility Aid.Various countries - 3 years - February 2009. Handicap International is an international organisation specialised in the field of disability. Non-governmental,non-religious, non-political and non-profit-making, it works alongside people with disabilities, whatever the context, in response to humanitarian crises and the effects of extreme poverty.
Handicap International implements programmes of assistance to persons and local organisations, inclusion programmes and programmes focusing on the fight against the main causes of disability.

It runs projects in almost 60 countries, with the support of a network of 8 national associations( Germany, Belgium, Canada, United-States, Luxembourg, United Kingdomand Switzerland) The organisation employs almost 3300 people worldwide, 330 of whom work in France and in its European and North American sections.

Job context :HI is seeking to recruit candidates for its candidate pool while awaiting a project appraisal in the Mobility Aid Domain in various geographical zones. Handicap International has been developing projects for 4 years in this domain. These projects include medical rehabilitation andprosthetic and orthotic research.
The project manager for mobility aid will do a follow up of the mobility, more precisely, coordinate the project in order to set up a wheelc hair manufacture.

Generals objectives : In charge of the implementation and monitoring of the 3 years project to improve access to quality mobility aid for people with disability.

Duties :Under the supervision of the country director your main tasks will be to:
- Coordinate the implementation of a manufacture of adapted wheel chairs in the national orthopaedic hospital Coordinate the training of trainers for the rehabilitation professionals
- Manage the provision of wheelchairs Manage 5 liaison officers and the project's financial, logistical and material resources
- Manage the advocacy project regarding physical disability

Profile sought :
- You have 5 years working experience as a project manager and with persons with disability
- You have Project Management, administrative, finance and Human Resources management skills

Essential competencies :
- Competent in manufacturing processes;
- Experiences in training (setting up training process)
- Management skills
- Strong participative approach
- Diplomatic + strong communication skills

Languages :
- For one potential position English is mandatory (speaking, reading and writing) and the other French is mandatory

Conditions : Volunteer or salaried status, according to experienceVolunteer : 750 or 850 euros indemnity/month + advantages

Salaried : between 2000 to 2300 euros per month depending on experience + advantages

Length of mission : 3 years
